MISSION STATEMENT
State Statute created County Real Property Tax Service Agencies to serve local government officials. Our agency assists the local assessing units to annually produce equitable assessment rolls, maintain a fair tax distribution system, and advise assessing units with assessment and exemption administration.
New York State Law requires the Director of the Agency to meet minimum qualifications and complete training courses prescribed by the State Board of Real Property Tax Services.
We are required to prepare and maintain tax maps and provide copies to Assessors and others. Our mapping department is explained in further detail under the Mapping Links.
We maintain 3 computers in our public access area and provide assistance as necessary.
The Agency’s Director is responsible for determining the tax rates for the towns within the County, the Special Districts and the County from final budgets.
Yates County is comprised of nine assessing units and approximately 15,700 parcels. There are six appointed Assessors and one elected Assessor.
Our Agency acts as support and liaison between individual taxpayers, the public, town government, County and State government, in all matters relating to assessments and taxation of Real Property. We are committed to serving all of the above. |
