Foster
Care and Adoption Services
Foster
Care
 |
Foster
Care is a service to keep families together-- not to drive them
apart. |
 |
Foster
Care is the temporary placement of a child with another
family. |
 |
It's
for children who are abused, neglected, emotionally maltreated or
abandoned. |
 |
It's
homes for children whose parents cannot parent them right now. |
 |
It's a
place for children to become healthier |
 |
Foster
Care is temporary. |
Foster
Care is founded on the beliefs that children grow up better in
families. The first choice is with their birth families. Temporary
foster care is the second choice. We use this choice to help the child
and birth parents work out their problems. Adoptive families enter the
picture only if the birth family problems cannot be resolved.
Adoption
 |
Adoption
offers more permanency to a child because it is a legal commitment |
 |
Adoption
is intended to last forever |
