This is a "lost" cemetery, though as recently as the 1970s there was apparently a single broken stone remaining, that of the child Daniel Kniffin. There is nothing at the site now but plowed fields.

The names of the people presumed to have been buried there are known because of the explicit statements and directives in Nathaniel C. Kniffin's will about which of his children would be responsible for marking the graves and erecting and maintaining a fence. It is unknown whether the directives were ever carried out. Nathaniel C. Kniffin's own stone was found elsewhere and is now stored in the Oliver House Museum in Penn Yan.

Nathaniel's son John, unmentioned in the will, moved away, and since the widow lived with him for some time after her husband's death, it is unlikely that she died in Yates County. The will, as well as deeds and census records, were used to confirm and augment the earlier reading.

The plot is sometimes noted in lists as having been on the Mallory farm.
