Part V: Cemeteries in the town of Middlesex

MIDDLESEX CENTER CEMETERY: Notes

Middlesex Center Cemetery

This is a public burial ground that for many years served the hamlet of Middlesex Center. It is no longer active, but is maintained by the town. The settlement is an old one, and the first burial in this ground took place in 1791. The gravestones are for the most part in good condition, except for a few which time and weather have rendered difficult to read. The cemetery is terraced up a very steep slope, and some few of the stones have toppled, overbalanced by erosion.

The compilers are grateful for the use of a reading made by members of the Middlesex Heritage Group in 1981, as well as other records collected by the former Middlesex historian Frederick Harter.
