The Yates County Office of Public History is proud to host the YatesCounty page of the NYGenWeb project. Below are listed some local resources posted elsewhere on this site, as well as pages relating to our neighboring counties, and a few other links. Many more can be found by following these to the larger project sites.

Please note that copies of some original documents (marked with a * in the list below) can be requested by researchers. Certain information must be sent in with the request, and these requirements are set out fully, usually on the summary page. The County Historian's office gets an enormous number of copy requests, and they can be processed a lot more quickly if we have the correct reference, and the name and postal address of the person to which they are to be sent.

  • The New York GenWeb Archives contain a great volume of material submitted by genealogists and others for use by everyone. The posted material isbroken down into categories: Biographies; Obituaries; Wills; Census; Biblerecords; and Cemetery records. The Yates County files have up to now been submitted mostly by Bonnie Bunce, to whom the County Coordinator is most grateful; other researchers with information and records they would like to share with us are encouraged to do the same.
