Milo Center, Town of Milo, Yates County NY in 1876

This map is from the Ensign, Everts & Ensign Atlas of Yates County. North is at the top, with the Himrod Road running nearly due north and south along the Old Pre-emption Line. Some of the houses shown here were built in the 1790s; notably the John Briggs house, the Peleg Briggs house (both belonging to G. B. Briggs in 1876) and the Griffin B. Hazard house (J. H. Shepherd on the map). Martha Reynolds built her house (A. Traver) in Milo Center soon after the turn of the 19th century; she was a follower of the Universal Friend, who came here with her and like many of the "Faithful Sisterhood", never married.
