The Batavia Times announces the death, on the 14th inst., of Orange T. Fargo, in Batavia, at the age of 73 years. He went to Genesee County, from Vermont, in 1812, and in 1825 he opened the Fargo Hotel in Alexander, and kept the house for 41 years, when ill-health compelled him to relinquish his position. He was well known and greatly esteemed and regarded as a model host. His character was above reproach in all particulars. His death is a cause of general sorrow wherever he was known. The deceased was a cousin of our old friend Russel R. Fargo, Esq., of Pulteney.
Died in this village, of typhoid fever, on Friday, the 18th inst., Samuel H. Welles, Esq., after a brief illness and at the age of about 48 years. He was the only son of Hon. Henry Welles, and held the office of Post Master in this village at the time of his death. About four years ago he had lost two promising sons, his only children, and a few months ago his wife, so that by his death the family becomes extinct. His death is a sad and desolating bereavement to his aged parents.
Ella A. Bruen, only daughter of our friend and neighbor, George Bruen, of this village, died at Le Roy on Monday afternoon, the 21st, inst., at the age of 16 years and six months. In the death of Ella her family sustain an affliction of deepest poignancy…. But a few weeks ago she went to the Female University at Le Roy to prosecute her education….

The last number of the Dundee Record records the following deaths in the town of Starkey: Henry Davenport, aged 91 years; Elija Dense, aged 65 years; Adam Struble, aged 84 years; and Mrs. Sally Smith, widow of the late Uriah Smith, aged 82 years.
Mrs. S. R. Fish received a telegraphic dispatch on Tuesday conveying the melancholy news of the death, by Yellow Fever, of her brother, George Lee. He was serving, we believe, on Gen. Hancock’s staff, In New Orleans, with the rank of Lieut. Colonel.

Died in Benton, Nov. 4th, 1867, Deacon Samuel G. Gage, Esq., aged
72 years, 6 months and 17 days. Mr. Gage, we believe, was a native of Yates
County, and identified with most of its history. … He was long a leading and
influential member of the Baptist Church at Benton Center…. Since the above

Died at Ovid, October 29th, Rev. Thomas Lounsbury, aged 78 years.
Dr. Henry P. Sartwell died at his residence in this
village on Friday evening, the 15th instant, at the age of seventy-five
years…. His funeral took place from his residence last Sunday, and was largely
attended. He was buried in accordance with the ritual of the Episcopal faith,
and that of the Masonic Fraternity, to which he belonged. The Masons of Milo

Reuben H. Walworth, former chancellor of the State of New York, died at his residence in Saratoga Springs, on Thursday last, at the age of 78 years.
Found dead: A young man named Wm. C. Potter was found dead in his bed this
morning, at the residence of Mr. Price, near this village, where he went last
night for a visit. The deceased was an artist, employed in the establishment
of Messrs. M. Finley & Son, and a young man of excellent character. He retired
last evening, appearing as well as usual. The cause of his sudden death is not
known.—Ontario County Times, Nov. 28. Mr Potter was a young man of much promise, and a man of noble
elements of character. His family belong in

Died at Susquehanna Depot, Pa., on Saturday, December 7, 1867, Mrs. Elizabeth White, relict of the late Charles White, of this village, aged 86 years. Mrs. White and her husband were very long resident among the people of Penn Yan, and will be well remembered by them. She has survived her husband but a few months, though probably longer than she expected. … Her remains were brought to Penn Yan for burial and the funeral was held on Sunday last, at the house of Samuel F. Curtis, Esq., Rev. David Magle officiating.

Nathan D. Spencer, son of the late David D. Spencer of Ithaca, was accidentally killed in New York on Wednesday night, the 27th ult., by falling from the Harlem bridge in the darkness, as he was walking home. He was brother of Hon. Charles S. Spencer of New York City, and held the office of Clerk of the Superior Court of the City.—Corning Journal

Died in Benton, December 15th, 1867, Mrs. Phebe Remer, relict of the late Hon. Aaron Remer, aged 86 years. Mrs. Remer survived her husband, who was a very prominent man in the early history of Yates county, about 27 years.
