received any communication from him. That from
all the information which your petitioner has
been able to derive from the letters hereto annexed
and from all other means your petitioner has
no doubt of the death of the said Jeffrey,
and that he must have died the 16th of January aforesaid.

And your petitioner further says that the said
Jeffrey was an inhabitant of said County of
Yates, that he left his residence in Yates County
with the intention to be absent but a few months;
that he frequently wrote your peti-
tioner after he left up to the date of his said
last letter, that he was a single man &
has never been married, that he
leaves a mother but no father him
surviving – that he has no sister or sisters
and no brothers except your petitioner,
that he left no will to the knowledge of your
petitioner, and that he left personal prop-
erty, as near as your petitioner can estimate
the same to the amount of about $300,
a portion of which is within the County of
Yates and a portion in the state of Kansas.

Your petitioner therefore prays that
letters of administration may be granted
to him, who is in all respects competent to
act as such administrator.
