It is Hereby Certified, by the undersigned Town Clerk of the Town of Torrey in the County of Yates that the preceding pages contain a full and complete record of the names of all Officers and Soldiers, who have entered the Military Service, and of all the Officers and Seamen who have entered the Naval Service, of the United States, from the said Town, since April 15, 1861, together with authentic facts relating to each individual named therein; which Record is made in pursuance of the Sixth Section of an Act passed by the Legislature of the State of New York, approved May 11, 1865, entitled "An Act in relation to the Bureau of Military Statistics;" and it is further certified that the Regiments and Batteries named in the foregoing record are New York Regiments or Batteries, unless otherwise particularly indicated therein.

Wounded at Gettysburg July 1863, took part in Battles of Mortons Ford, Wilderness, Spotsylvania, Cold Harbor and Petersburg. Again wounded July 21, 1864, sent to Hosptt Alexandria Va., furloughed from there, but failed to return. Mustered out at Elmira as Absent sick in Hospital.
 

Carley John Henry West Dresden July 31, 1843 Yates Co., NYcorpl179th Inf Co. F Feb 15, 1864 1864 corpl 3 yr Penn Yan W S $25 Henry Caroline farmer After three weeks service was mortally wounded at Petersburg, lived five days and Died in field Hosptt June 22, 1864. Remains buried there.
