Project Information

The following capital improvement, bridge and maintenance projects are scheduled to be done in 2021. Completion of all projects is contingent on the availability of funds as appropriated by the Yates County Legislature and the current pricing of all necessary materials including oil and asphalt based materials needed to complete the projects. Expect delays and travel will be limited to one lane through the work zones. Alternate routes are suggested if you wish to avoid delays.

Capital Improvement Projects

    • CR #21, West Lake Road (2.04 miles): The project will consist of milling off 3 inches of existing pavement and placing 3.5 inches of new hot mix asphalt binder and top courses. The work will take place along the entire length of West Lake Road between State Route 54A and Central Avenue. Recycled millings from the project will be used to install shoulders. Traffic control lane striping will be completed by the Tri-County striping truck owned by Yates, Schuyler and Steuben counties. NO ROADSIDE PARKING WILL BE PERMITTED DURING THIS PROJECT THAT WILL AFFECT THE CONTRACTOR’S ABILITY TO PERFORM THEIR WORK. PROJECTED START DATE: MAY 3, 2021 … PROJECTED COMPLETION DATE: JUNE 18, 2021.
    • CR #17, Bath Road (4.79 miles) & CR #20, Airport Drive (0.35 miles): The Bath Road portion of this project will consist of milling off 3 inches of existing pavement and placing 3.5 inches of new hot mix asphalt binder and top courses. 3.5 inches of new hot mix binder and top courses will be added to Airport Drive as well. The work will take place between State Route 54 and Sisson Road. Airport Drive will be paved between Bath Road and Seneca Flight. Recycled millings from the Bath Road portion of the project will be used to install shoulders. Traffic control lane striping will be completed by the Tri-County striping truck owned by Yates, Schuyler and Steuben counties.
    • CR #9, Ridge Road (2.43 miles) & CR #16, Travis Road (1.11 miles): The project will consist of milling off 3 inches of existing pavement and placing 3.5 inches of new hot mix asphalt binder and top courses. The work on Ridge Road will take place between Havens Corners Road and Earls Hill Road. The work on Travis Road will take place between Ridge Road and State Route 14. Recycled millings from the project will be used to install shoulders. Traffic control lane striping will be completed by the Tri-County striping truck owned by Yates, Schuyler and Steuben counties

Maintenance Projects

Crack sealing will begin in May 2021 and Surface Treatments (Oil and Stone) will begin in June 2021 on numerous roads. Roads to be surface treated are: 

  • CR #5, Dundee-Himrod Road: (3.61 miles) From CR #01S, Lakemont Himrod Road to the Village of Dundee line
  • CR #14, Havens Corners Road: (6.88 miles) From CR #9, Ridge Road to CR #27, Voak Road
  • CR #32, Italy Hill Road: (4.68 miles) From Darby’s Corners Road to the Yates County/Steuben County line
  • CR #36, Plum Point Road: (1.86 miles) From CR #1N, Himrod Road to Hall Road

Other minor road and bridge maintenance projects will also be in progress throughout the construction season in various parts of the county that may result in some minor, localized delays and detours.
