Purpose
The Youth Bureau operates under the Department of Social Services in the Yates County government.
The purpose of the Youth Bureau is to promote, establish, and maintain a unified system of youth development, recreation and delinquency prevention programs throughout Yates County for youth from birth to 21 years. This is accomplished through networking with others who serve youth, assessing the needs of youth through comprehensive planning, coordinating youth services, allocating Office of Children and Family Services funds for youth programs, and evaluating those programs’ effectiveness.

Youth Board (Citizen Advisory Board)
A citizen advisory board, with adult and youth members, assists the Youth Bureau in its works. This voluntary board meets regularly to set priorities, review funding applications, and offer guidance to the Youth Bureau Director. This important community involvement enhances our ability to identify and help meet the ongoing needs of children and youth.
