Yates County State of Emergency

Building Hours M-F 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.

Department Schedules as of 3/26 @ 3:00 PM

Board of Elections – The office is open to the public by appointment only.  Call 315-536-5135.

Buildings & Grounds – The department is cleaning and sanitizing hourly.

Community Services – The office is open with a limited staff.

County Clerk – Clerk office is accepting Real Estate only at this time by US Mail, or drop box only. Closed to the public.

County Treasurer – The office open with a limited staff.  Please call ahead at 315-536-5192.

County Administrator – The office is open.  Please call ahead at 315-531-3210.

Department of Motor Vehicle – The DMV is closed until further notice as a directive from Governor Cuomo.  All registrations and licenses due to expire after March 1 have been extended. 45 day registrations from dealers will also be extended.  No road tests or salvage exams until further notice. Any questions please call.

Department of Social Services:

                Food Stamps, Public Assistance, HEAP, Medicaid – Per state issued guidelines, all in-person interviews including applications and re-certifications are waived.  Information will be primarily gathered over the phone.  Work requirements for Temporary Assistance and Food Stamps are also waived.  Applications are available by mail for all eligibility programs, or apply for Food Stamps and HEAP online at www.mybenefits.ny.gov.

                Child Support – Child support orders are continued to be processed.  Child Support Payments from non-custodial parents are still being accepted, however, it is preferred that payments are sent through the mail or call ahead for an appointment to drop off your payment.

                Children/Adult Services – Child and adult protective reports continue to be received and investigated.  The office is following guidance issued by the Office of Children and Family Services regarding a reduction in unnecessary visits to homes and following the recommended screening procedures before any home visits.

                The staff is available for in person interviews for emergency issues that cannot be handled by phone.  Please call 315-536-5183 for an appointment.

Highway – The department is performing their normal work with a limited staff.

Legislative Office – The office is open with a limited staff.  Please call ahead at 315-536-5150.

Office of Emergency Management – The office is open.  Please call ahead at 315-536-3000.

Personnel  - The office is open with a limited staff.  Please call ahead at 315-536-5112.

Planning – The office is open with a limited staff.  Please call ahead at 315-536-5153.

Probation – The office is open with a limited staff.

Public Health – The office is open with business by phone or email. Please call or email [email protected].

Real Property – The office is open with a limited staff.  Business by e-mail or phone is strongly encouraged.  Maps can be requested through e-mail at [email protected] or by calling 315-536-5165 extension 1.

Sheriff – The office remains a 24x7 operation in all divisions (police services, 911, county jail, civil, court security) with civil division at 50% staff.  All jail visitation is suspended and there is limited CAP court use.

Veterans’ Services – The office is open with a limited staff for appointments.  Please call 315-536-5196.
