YCPH Vaccine Clinics:
- Anyone 12 years and older can attend our open clinic hours. All 12-17 year olds must have a parent/guardian present to give consent for vaccination.
- 1st and 2nd doses of Pfizer and Moderna are available at open clinic hours.
- Third doses of Pfizer and Moderna are available at open clinic hours for individuals who meet eligibility listed below. You will given the same vaccine you received for dose 1 and 2.

Third Doses for Moderately and Severely Immunocompromised:
We are now offering third doses of Pfizer and Moderna vaccine to individuals who meet the eligibility criteria at our open clinic hours listed above. You can register for an appointment above for our open clinic hours or walk in and we can register you onsite. It must be at least 28 days after your 2nd dose in order to be vaccinated with a third dose. Public Health encourages everyone to talk to their doctor first to make sure it is recommended that you receive a third dose. Pfizer vaccine is12 years and up and Moderna vaccine is 18 years and up. You will receive the same vaccine that you were given for your 1st & 2nd doses. For questions regarding third doses, please call 315-536-5160.
What do I need to bring to my appointment?
- Make sure you wear a short sleeve shirt that will allow vaccinators access to your upper arm
- Bring your photo ID or drivers license/passport for proof of age.
Individuals without internet and/or computer:
Individuals in our community who have no internet and/or computer and are trying to find a COVID-19 vaccination appointment, can call Yates County Public Health at 315-536-5160 and we will register you for an appointment. Our clinics are now accepting walk-ins so you can come to a clinic that works for you and we will register you there!
Pharmacies are only able to vaccinate 12 years and older Check the following pharmacy websites for vaccination appointments.
Walgreens Pharmacy or call 315-536-1401 after you have created your Walgreens account and the automated phone system can register you an appointment on the phone.

- Do I have to have an appointment to get vaccinated?
- Yes, registration is highly recommended to receive the vaccine. We do also allow walk-ins at our clinics.
- How will I find out when registration for more clinics becomes available?
- Each time we receive a shipment of vaccine from the State, we will open registration for additional clinics. We will announce registration through our website and facebook page.
- What do I need to bring to my appointment?

- What are some other ways I can get vaccinated?
- Pharmacists are able to vaccinate anyone 12 years and older.
- Do I have to pay to get the vaccine?
- No, there is no cost or co-pay for the vaccine.
- Can I transfer my registration to someone else?
- No – appointments are not transferrable. If you cannot make your appointment time, you should cancel and re-register sometime in the future.
- How soon after getting vaccinated am I protected from COVID-19?
- The COVID-19 vaccine, like all vaccines, does not instantly provide protection. It takes time for your immune system to respond to the vaccine and develop disease-fighting antibodies.
- Can you tell more about the vaccines that are currently available in the US?
- Moderna
- Second dose is required 28 days after your first dose
- Found to be 95% effective starting 14 days after the second dose.
- Pfizer
- Second dose is required 21 days after your first dose
- Found to be 95% effective starting 7 days after the second dose.
- Janssen and Janssen ( J&J)
- Only one dose is required.
- Found to be 67% effective at preventing moderate to severe illness starting 14 days after vaccination and 85% effective 28 days after vaccination.
- What should I expect after I get vaccinated?
- You will need to wait for 15 minutes after you get your vaccine.
- Like all vaccines and other medications, there is a chance you might experience some symptoms after you get it. There is a possibility that you might feel some fatigue or some pain or muscle soreness at the injection site - you could even have a fever. These are signs that the vaccine is working, and your immune system is responding to the vaccine and learning how to fight off the virus. Mild pain relievers should help you feel better. If you don't feel better within two or three days, you should follow up with your doctor
How will I get my second dose of vaccine?
- People will be expected to get their second dose of vaccine through the same vaccinator that provided their first dose. You will receive information on how to schedule your second dose at your appointment for your first dose.
