[ARCHIVED] Boil Water Order - Town of Milo Water Districts 1 & 2

The affected areas included are from the Village line (Red Jacket Park) to 614 East Lake Road, Bath Road, Airport Drive, Country Estates & Keuka View Drive, Keuka Shores complex (across from Red Jacket Park) and White Tail Lane.

E. Coli bacteria was found in the drinking water on 7/14/21.  NYS considers any confirmed E. Coli positive samples a public health hazard and a violation of drinking water standards.

What do residents have to do that live in the affected areas?

  • Bring tap water to a rolling boil, boil for one minute and cool before using.
  • Use cooled boiled water or bottled water for drinking, making ice, washing dishes, preparing infant formula, brushing teeth, watering pets, washing fruits and vegetables and preparing food until further notice.
  • Showering is still permitted as long as you avoid getting water in your mouth.
  • Doing laundry is safe as long as clothes are dried thoroughly before wearing.

E.coli can cause diarrhea, cramps, nausea, headaches and other symptoms.  If you are experiencing these symptoms and live in The Town of Milo Water Districts 1 & 2, call your doctor's office.

The boil water order is expected to be in effect for at least 3 days.  Water samples are collected and tested each day.  Residents will be informed when the tests show that you no longer need to boil water.

For questions about the Boil Water order, please contact the New York State Department of Health at 315-789-3030 or the Town of Milo Water Department at 315-694-0829.
