AIR QUALITY: UNHEALTHY
[YATES COUNTY, NY] – Canadian wildfires continue to release large amounts of small particles into the air, some of which travel to the United States through prevailing weather patterns. Over the last two days the amount of particulate matter has risen again, and is currently considered unhealthy for everyone.

The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation and its partners have created a website and mobile phone application to provide information about current air quality conditions and recommendations for protecting ourselves from possible harms. “Please consider using AirNow.gov as a source of information when air quality worsens,” says Director of Yates County Public Health Doug Sinclair. “The website or the phone application allow you to get local up-to-date information, forecasting for the next day, and recommendations for protecting yourself.”
