[ARCHIVED] Probable Harmful Algal Bloom (HAB) on Keuka Lake

Public Health was notified of a probable harmful algal bloom (HAB) on the West Bluff side of Keuka Lake. With the warmer weather continuing into this weekend, we may see more HAB formation in the lake. Some HAB’s can produce toxins. These pose health risks to people and animals if exposed to large enough quantities. People, pets and livestock should avoid contact with water that has scums on the surface or is discolored. Do not drink untreated surface water. For more information on HAB’s, visit
