COVID-19 Vaccine

COVID-19 hospitalizations are rising gradually in the United States and New York State. Click here to find hospital admission levels and prevention steps by county. 

The United States ended the emergency phase of its COVID-19 pandemic response in April 2023. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) will continue to provide guidance to states, counties, and communities across the country. Please use the CDC website for definitive recommendations: Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) | CDC


What to do if you test positive for COVID-19: 

  • Isolate and take precautions, including wearing a high-quality mask or respirator, to protect others around you from getting infected.
  • Tell people you had recent contact with that they may have been exposed.
  • Monitor your symptoms. If you have any emergency warning signs, seek emergency care immediately.
  • Contact your healthcare provider or pharmacy to learn about treatment options that may be available to you. Treatment must be started within the first few days to be effective.
    1. You are more likely to get very sick if you are an older adult or have an underlying medical condition. Treatment is available. Talk with your healthcare provider to determine what is the best option for you.

COVID-19 Vaccination:

  • Everyone ages 6 years and older should get 1 updated Pfizer-BioNTech or Moderna COVID-19 vaccine to be up to date.
  • People aged 65 years and older may get a 2nd dose of updated Pfizer-BioNTech or Moderna COVID-19 vaccine.
  • People who are moderately or severely immunocompromised may get additional doses of updated Pfizer-BioNTech or Moderna COVID-19 vaccine.
  • Children aged 6 months–5 years may need multiple doses of COVID-19 vaccine to be up to date, including at least 1 dose of updated Pfizer-BioNTech or Moderna COVID-19 vaccine, depending on the number of doses they’ve previously received and their age.
  • COVID-19 vaccine recommendations will be updated as needed.

  • Residents can get free KN95 masks at the Yates County Public Health office at 417 Liberty St. Suite 2021 Penn Yan, NY 14527 Monday through Friday 8 AM-4 PM.
