Protect Yourself From Respiratory Illnesses!

[YATES COUNTY, NY] – This upcoming fall and winter, protect yourself, your family, and your community from illnesses like the common cold, COVID-19, flu, and RSV. Take preventative measures like washing your hands, covering your mouth when you cough or sneeze, getting vaccinated, and staying home when you are sick.

COVID-19 Update: It is recommended that everyone 6 months and older get an updated COVID-19 vaccine to protect themselves against severe illness this fall and winter. Check with your healthcare provider or pharmacy to see if they have the updated COVID-19 vaccine.

Influenza Update: This fall, Rite-Aid Pharmacy will be hosting public flu vaccination clinics. All clinics will be held at the Yates County Office Building Auditorium located at 417 Liberty Street Penn Yan, NY 14527 (same building as the DMV). Rite-Aid can only vaccinate individuals 3 years old and up.

Public flu clinic schedule:

If you are unable to attend a public flu clinic, check with your healthcare provider or pharmacy to get vaccinated. If you do not have health insurance, Yates County Public Health may be able to vaccinate you.

RSV Update: Adults 60 years of age and older may receive a single dose of RSV vaccine. Check with your healthcare provider to see if they have the vaccine.

Getting your vaccines early gives your immune system time to build up protection before being exposed to circulating viruses. Keep yourself, your family, and your community safe by taking preventative measures like washing your hands, covering your mouth when you cough or sneeze, getting vaccinated, and staying home when you are sick. For more information, visit www.yatescountypublichealth.org or call our office at 315-536-5160.
