June 18th - 22nd is National Lightning Safety Awareness Week. Lightning kills an average of 47 people in the U.S. each year, with hundreds more severely injured. Most of the time lightning occurs during summer months; however, people can be struck any time of the year. Something to remember, "When Thunder Roars...Go Indoors".
